Success: Overcoming The Pit Falls (Part II)
Hi friends! Last time we were talking about success and creating results. The journey to creating results can seem so smooth until a pit fall comes your way. A pit fall is something that must change in you first in order to move forward and create the life you truly desire. Lets take a look and see which one of these pit falls best describes you and how you will overcome it.
The first pit fall is false pride and ego. False pride and ego is over-estimating and compensating your abilities. When you size up your competition to match their credentials, when you obsess to be better than everyone else and strive to achieve results, when the results and success that you have aren’t good enough, when you think you are already better than everyone else and don’t need any more skills and training because you already know it; these are all classic signs of false pride and ego. Just remember one thing, pride always comes before a fall.
The second pit fall is emotional instability. Emotional instability looks like the right doors always happen for others, but you never feel or believe that the right opportunity or doors are ever going to open up for you. This does not mean you are not able. You have been blessed with talents and gifts. You are on a certain path in life for a reason, however something seems to always be holding you back. You tend to waiver back and forth in your belief that things will work out and then when there is the slightest obstacle, you might start to have disbelief, to doubt, to worry, or to question whether you are meant to walk this path or not. Your thoughts and belief in yourself and others become unstable and you begin to distrust yourself and others. You might say things like, ‘Is this ever going to work out for me?’ When you go back and forth you tend to take action steps based on emotions rather than concrete evidence and facts. You dismiss the pros and cons and begin to rely on the emotions in your head that speak to you. Those ‘voices’ in your heard are your emotions, thoughts and feelings that you are choosing to give a voice; which brings me to the next pit fall.
The third pit fall is our attitude towards our situation, our circumstances. Are you content and stable no matter what situation or season you face? If you are constantly someone that is comparing your situation to the results of others, your attitude is that of discontentment. How can you possibly be trusted with more when the very things you have are not good enough? It is impossible to be content if you are always looking elsewhere for something that is better; this is simply put chasing a fantasy. Fantasy results from greed and greed from lack and poverty mentalities. When you are consumed by what you do not have or someone else has it can also lead to jealousy. Jealousy can cause one to take matters into their own hands to create results rather than trusting the timing and process; in other words striving for success rather than allowing it to happen.
True success should never be strived for, but something that lines up naturally with dedication and excellence. True success means that you operate in favor and blessing and that others are attracted to. In addition, when you build relationships and take care of others, they are more likely to take care of you, but you must be willing to get out of the way of these weaknesses in order for necessary change to take place that will bring out the best in you and those you help serve. Remember, true results are not self-seeking, they are a team effort! You must also learn to prosper where you are planted and find ways to grow and develop as a person. You must learn to appreciate what you have been given and be content no matter what! True promotion comes with contentment.
The fourth pit fall is not losing hope. Even if things do not look like the way you want them to right now. Don’t give up on yourself and where you are going. Keep in mind that success is not always smooth, there will be bumps in the road along the way. Your success is a journey that takes time to develop and prosper in. Success comes in layers and seasons. If you are in a difficult season or circumstance where you are longing to see change, where your heart is hungry for more, just know you are being tested for your promotion. Your breakthrough is coming, but are you ready to endure it and do what it takes to get to the other side of your victory? Success comes with challenge and obstacles. It is human nature to only want to look at success as all the victories, but what is easy to forget is all the pit falls and the lessons that they teach us. Pit falls are lessons that you must go through and learn from before being promoted and receiving those results. Your pit falls will allow you to build stamina and character if you allow it to overcome the challenges in your life. Is success worth the challenges you might encounter??? Food for thought until next time.
